All have truly private balconies/decks with unobstructed ocean view. The “Captains Quarters” Jacuzzi rooms are popular for intimate special occasions such as anniversaries, or just getaways. The suites have 4 full size rooms, bedroom, full kitchen, living room with fireplace and bathroom. All rooms/suites have WiFi internet access. Take our private access stairway to the beautiful black sand beach anytime as your gateway to enjoy the pristine tidepools, beachcombing, sea life and relaxation. Enjoy whale watching from your room. Imagine a fantastic sunset framing your own stunning view of the Pacific Ocean each evening. Tides inn or tides out there is always an adventure awaiting on the black sand beach out front.
The Shelter Cove Restaurant is on the property, serving world famous seafood, steaks, pasta and specials that are truly unequaled. We have local musical entertainment during dinner 5 to 9 PM.
The airstrip and golf course is a short distance away conveniently located on the south end of the Shelter Cove Airstrip.
We provide pickup/dropoff service to those locations.
Fishing and boating is very popular with private and commercial fishermen. The salmon fishing is amazing. Fishing charters are available and specialize in salmon, albacore tuna, rock cod, lingcod, pacific halibut and of course Dungeness crab. Abalone catching along shore is popular and you can get your limit daily.
Hiking on the many trails in the Lost Coast is the first thing that the free spirit wants to do. The Lost Coast Trail winds through the Kings Range Conservation Area and through the Sinkyone Wilderness State Park where elk are seen regularly. The area is dotted with campsites that are available.
The Cape Mendocino Lighthouse was moved to Shelter Cove in 1998 and stands proudly as the centerpiece in Mal Coombs Park on the south end of Shelter Cove.
The Humboldt Redwoods State Park and Avenue of the Giants is only 1 exit north of the Shelter Cove exit on hwy 101 This world famous scenic 31 mile drive has 51 thousand acres of magnificent redwood groves. The largest stand of virgin redwoods in the world. Activities include: picnic, camp, hike, swim, fish, raft, bike or relax and enjoy.
